Images
If you want to, and you will, add images to your pages - you must upload them first.
Enter a short description for the image you are uploading.
The Small Version is the image that will be displayed in your page.
If you wish for your visitors to be able to click through to a larger version of the image, select that as the Large Version.
The Rollover Version allows you to specify an alternate image to be displayed when a visitor mouses over it. You need only to upload the rollover version of the image. The javascript automation code will be added to your image insertions when you use them in your pages. Use this to create animated navigation buttons in your pages, Before / After comparisons, etc.
Here is a mouseover example. Go ahead and give it a try...
You may upload your images From file (a local file on your harddrive), or URL (if the image is already on the internet, either in your old or another site. This saves you the steps of downloading and re-uploading the image.). You will need to enter the entire web address and file name (i.e. http://www.site.com/...filename.jpg). To get this address, just right click on the image on a site and choose to View Properties, or click through to view it on its' own page and copy the URL from the address bar in your browser.
You must specify at least a Large image.
If you do not specify a small image, one will be created for you from your large image.
The Width next to the upload options for each file allow you to resize you image during the upload. The images will be resized down as necessary to fit this width (height proportionally). If your image is already smaller than the width specified, it will be accepted as-is.
Enter a different Width as needed (Hint - enter a very large one to leave you upload un-altered). These defaults can also be changed in your sites' General Settings.
If you need more control over the size of a particular image you are uploading, or need to fix the image (orientation, etc.), please see the Image Station function.
Once you have uploaded your images, they will appear on this page in a list that shows the pages they are being used in once you've put them to use.
In order to help protect the integrity of your pages, you may not delete images that are in use.
You may replace or update an image if necessary by checking the "I am replacing a file" box. This requirement helps protect you from accidently uploading another image with the same name as one already in use.
Images are available for use in any of your pages. You only need to upload them once.
Importing images from ImageStation
If you have images in your Image Station area, you will see them in a separate list underneath the upload dialog and be prompted to "Tag UnRegistered Files". These are files that are in limbo - they are there, but they are not yet a part of your site and useable.
To create a file record for the image(s), enter a Description and check the box for which each of them represent (Small / Large / Rollover), and then click the Upload button.
Tag images together just as you would upload them together. i.e. Check the Small and Large versions of related images.
Click the Upload button and they will be accepted in as if you had uploaded them.
Special Display Options:
There are 2 interesting ways to display groups of images: As rotating images, and as a slideshow.
Rotating Image Display: shows images from a specified group, selecting a new image each time a page is built or refreshed. This technique is often used to provide interest in the site header, or in a sidebar.
To set up a rotating image:
1 - Edit the images (in Photoshop or your weapon of choice) so they all have the same height and width.
2 - Name them banner1.jpg, banner2.jpg, etc (you may choose your own prefix).
3 - Upload them to the standard image gallery, like any other images.
4 - Call and ask us to install the display box. The cost, if any, will be nominal.
Slideshow: displays images from a specified gallery, changing the image every few seconds (you can specify the interval). This is explained in detail in the Galleries section.
