General Settings

The General settings allow you to change minor look & feel aspects of your site, and backend behavior & content editing rules.

Site appearance settings:

Font, Size & Color - Set the global text attributes for your site.

LinkText Color & Decoration - Set the text colors for hyperlinks in your site and decoration (bold, underline, etc.).

Line Breaks - Automatic / Manual. By default, line breaks are converted to < BR >'s (the HTML equivalent) when your pages are served. If you prefer to use explicit line breaks or your pages are primarily copied in from existing HTML source, you may select Manual line breaks.

First Impression page - Sets the Cookie memory period. This is the amount of time that a visitor is away from your site before they are again treated as a new visitor and shown your First Impression Page. As long as your visitors return to your site within this period, they will see your normal Default Page after their first visit. Visitors returning after this amount of time will be re-greeted with your First Impression Page.

Videos - Set the amount of time for which the AutoPlay setting of "Once" will suppress replay of a video.

Page Dates - Set Page Edit Date display in your site.

Footer Text - Your copyright, tag line, whatever text that is displayed in your site. This is an optional site module. If you would like to make use of this, let us know where you would like it to appear.

Backend behavior settings:

New Pages - New pages will be Live on Add or dormant and Require Admin Approval when added by users with Editor access.

Page Edits - Page edits will be Live on Add or pages will go dormant and Require Admin Approval when changed by users with Editor access.

Menu Items - New menu items will be Live on Add or dormant and Require Admin Approval when added by users with Editor access.

Dormant Pages - Determines whether menu links are shown for dormant pages. Choose to Show Links or Suppress Links...

Forms Entry - Show form options in page / content editors or Admins Only to deny use of this feature to Editors.

Page Edit Warning - Use this to display a warning in the page editor to inform users that a page has recently been updated by another user and that they might still be working on it. Set a time frame in hours for which the 3ngine will consider that a page might still be in progress.

Shadow Pages - Shadow pages are temporary, automatic backup copies of your webpages. A shadow page is a snapshot of your page(s) made on the first edit of a page on a given day. This is a convenience feature that allows you to compare and backtrack page changes.

Custom Colors - If you wish to define or limit page text to a set of colors that compliment your website for use in the page editor, enter them here, separated by commas. You may use colornames or hex values.

Small Image AutoSize - This is the maximum image width for the Small Version of images in your Image Gallery for your Pages. If you upload a Small Version image wider than this set dimension, it will be automatically resized for you. If you do not specify a Small Version, one will be generated for you to this default dimension. This setting, along with the Large Image Maximum, allow you to take images straight from your digital camera to your site with no editing. The default Small Image AutoSize width is 320 pixels wide (height remaining proportional).

Large Image Maximum - This is the maximum image width for the Large Version of images in your Image Gallery for your Pages. If you upload a Large Version image wider than this set dimension, it will be automatically resized for you. This setting, along with the Small Image AutoSize, allow you to take images straight from your digital camera to your site with no editing. The default Large Image Maximum width is 1600 pixels wide (height remaining proportional).

Default Image Border - Border line thickness for images that you insert into your pages. You can change the border thickness for individual image insertions. This is your default.

Default Image Spacing - These parameters control the default horizontal and vertical space between an image you insert and the surrounding content, in pixels. Try using values around 20 for a blank area around the image approximately 1/4 inch wide.

Default Image Alignment - This parameter controls the default alignment for images you insert. Choose Left, Center, or Right. Has no effect unless the image is smaller than the area it is inserted into.
