New Item entry and editing
Item entry is a simple, 3 step process.
First, identify the item itself and its' basic information.
A unique Item Number is required. This is your SKU, stocking, or item ordering number. If you do not have or use these, you can just enter a short name or acronym for the item. If you do not enter one, one will be generated (but you'll wish you had supplied one because the automatically generated one will have no correlation to your item...).
Give your item a descriptive Item Name. This is the name that your visitors will see in the product listings.
If you have entered Categories, select one or more of them for the item to be displayed under. Hold the Control key to select multiple categories.
If you need to temporarily remove your item from listings, set its' Active status to No.
Next, enter Short and Long Descriptions for your item. The short description is used for the initial item listings. The long description is used when a visitor clicks through to the item page. At minimum, a short description is required. If you do not enter a long description, the short one will be used again in the item page.
If your item offers choices of material, color, flavor, etc. and you need or want an answer from the visitor, use the Options / Question box to enter a free-form question and check the selection for whether a Response is Required or not. See below for item Size Entry.
Next, select a Small and Large Image to upload for the item's listing. As with the description, the small image will be used in categorical listings and the large image will be used in the items full description page.
Save your Item Info.
Second, enter the item's Sizes.
Each Size must have a Name, Price, and inventory Quantity.
Description allows you to clarify or embelish the choice, and is optional.
If you maintain a large, ready amount of the item on hand, or the item is a virtual offering (such as a software download), you may enter a -1 (a negative one) in the Quantity field to opt out of stock level maintenance.
Enter and Save at least one Size entry.
Sale Pricing - This entry allows you to easily set up a sale. You may place individual items on sale by making these entries at the item level, or you can put a category or the entire inventory on sale from the Inventory list.
In either case, the sale is defined by an override price, and an optional end date.
In the Sale entry, you may enter either a new fixed price, or a modification of the original price using the following rules:
Positive entries in this entry will be interpreted as a fixed sale price. (i.e. 5.00 = Sale Price of $5.00 or 70% = 70 Percent of original price)
Negative entries in this entry will be interpreted as a price reduction. (i.e. -5.00 = original price minus $5.00 or -25% = 25% off of original price)
An optional Expiration Date may be entered in the Until entry box if you want the sale price to automatically return to normal pricing after a given date.
Also, a virtual On Sale Category will added and displayed in your store's categories list for these items.
Third, enter Shipping choices for each of the Sizes.
Shipping choice entry is optional, but allows you to define different options or identify the differing costs in sending the item sizes.
A shipping method Name and Price is required. Remember to enter international options if you are willing/able to ship your items out of country.
We recommend that you use USPS for your shipping as they utilize fixed rate shipping. If you go with another method, you will need to average your shipping costs and/or obtain a rates table yourself. We will also need to charge you for implimentation.
Uploading Additional Images.
You may upload additional detail images for your item.
See the More / Detail Images after you've entered your basic item information.
