Community Clean Up Day 2010 will be held on Saturday, April 24, from 8:30am - 1:00pm. Registration is suggested, but not required. "Walk-ups" are welcome! There is no charge for participation. Community Harvest The annual Community Harvest event benefits the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, the Jaycees’ “Share-A-Christmas” program, and needy families in our community. In 2009, Community Harvest was held at Marble Tech, Inc., 150 E. Dartmoor Drive in Crystal Lake. Hundreds of people gathered to help sort and box the thousands of donations collected throughout the fall months. Country Donuts provided delicious donuts and hot beverages for all volunteers. Many thanks to all of the event sponsors, community volunteers, participating local businesses, and committee members for all the help! 52,675 pounds of food, baby items, and personal hygiene items and $21,300.00 were donated to the food pantry through Community Harvest. Thank you to all our volunteers and sponsors! Join us again this year on Thanksgiving morning, for Community Harvest 2010! New Member Orientation Held throughout the year, this event is designed for new members who joined the Chamber within the last year and also for current members and their employees who want to learn how to become involved with the Chamber. Activities and opportunities are reviewed and new members and their businesses are introduced. The atmosphere is comfortable and informal enabling new members, staff, committee chairs, and Chamber board members to become acquainted. Becoming involved on a committee increases your visibility in the business community and contact with other businesses . . . a valuable asset of Chamber membership. Contact Gail McDonald and find out when the next one is scheduled. Business Builders Business Builders is an eat and learn opportunity held through out the year at both breakfast and lunch time, providing a forum for members to keep up-to-date with the challenges, concerns, and opportunities involved with growing your business. Members have the opportunity to meet with their peers to enhance their own skill set. The topics and speakers change for every session. Each seminar is new and each speaker offers a different perspective on their chosen topic. There is always time for questions, answers, and also networking. Attendees leave with at least one or two business tips they can use that same day! Reservations are required. Check the calendar of events for the next session or contact Gail McDonald for more info. Pride In Crystal Lake Award – PICA Known as PICA, this award is given each quarter to a business, person, or organization that shows pride in Crystal Lake, improves the quality of life in the community, improves the physical appearance of the community or provides a program or activity that adds to the ambience of the community. The Board of Directors elects the recipient. This award is co-sponsored by Schafer Home Improvements and the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce. Lunch-time Member Appreciation Mixer This event is held twice a year for all Chamber members. Sponsored by Outback Steakhouse, this special lunch-time mixer gives members the opportunity to promote their business on a one-on-one basis with other members. This is a social and networking opportunity and is great for those members who can't make it to Tuesday night mixers. Drug-Free Illinois Workplace Program This program is sponsored by the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce and is the coordinating agency for this statewide effort. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of small and medium-sized businesses in the State of Illinois who initiate a drug-free workplace program with policies and procedures that include a drug-testing component. Chamber member businesses can contact the Chamber for information on eligibility guidelines. Volunteers Volunteers are an important part in the success of the Chamber. Volunteers give their time and talent to a committee or group to plan events. Individual committees meet only when their assigned activity is functioning. When a Chamber member volunteers to be on a committee, it doesn’t mean a full year commitment. The Chamber is always in need of members who would enjoy spending some time in planning. Volunteers always have fun, and this is one of the best ways to get to know other members. For information, click here to e-mail us. |
