NavBar
The NavBar, is a simple strip menu generally used for basic / common pages like Home, About, Contact...
Adding and Editing links
Click on New Link to add a link or click on an existing link to change it.
A link must have a text entry. This is the text that is displayed for the link. If a link is to be used as a placeholder, a group title, or you do not have a page ready to link to, that is ok. In fact, you can create your entire menu structure first and then your pages or vice verse.
Status determines whether the link is live (displayed in your site) or dormant (hidden). Depending on your access level and the settings for your site, you may or may not have the ability to change this setting yourself. See the General Settings section for more information regarding this.
Description text is displayed in your site when one mouses over the link. This is optional.
Next, you may choose to link to one of your site's pages (an internal link) or to a URL (an external link, to another site).
Initially, you will be presented with a link of pages in your site that have been recently saved or edited because that is probably what you are creating the new link for. If you are creating a link to an older, existing page, simply click on "Show All Available Pages" for a complete list. Clicking View in the page list will launch the page in a new window so that you may confirm that it is the correct page. Clicking on Edit, however, will take you away from the link entry and in to the Page editor (without saving the link you began to create).
When linking to a URL, if you need to pass any variables and values, enter those in the Parameters entry and they will be added to the URL when the menu item is generated.
Save and you are done. If your access level allows, you can also enter the display colors for your link text.
Changing link order and status
You may change your link order and statuses by simply clicking on the sorting arrows and links in the list.
Click on the arrows to move a link up or down in the list, or to the top or bottom. The order that they appear in the list is the order that they will be presented in your website. Sort accordingly.
View displays the page that it is linked to. Edit allows you to change that page linking. And Make Live / Dormant determines whether the link is currently displayed in your site.
Selecting "New Page..." from the Link list allows you to create a new page for that link in a single action (i.e. you will not have to come back to the Menu editor to link up the page when you are finished).
You may not delete a menu item that is in use (pointed to a page). Edit the link first to point it to nothing, then you will be allowed to delete it. This requirement helps protect you from accidentally deleting valid links.
