If you have enough items in your store that you'd like or need to categorize them, this is where you create them. If you have just a few items, you may skip this area.
Items may be placed into more than one category, so feel free to set up special categories for sale items, etc.
Items in a category that is inactive will not be available for browsing. You can set aside a category for seasonal items like that leftover deep discount Halloween candy you sell from November to December. In this way, you do not need to delete the product discriptions only to have to re-enter them when you want to make them available for sale again... (Note - you may also set individual items inactive themselves as well).
